Maxi Dress: The Perfect Summer Piece!

Whether you're dressing for an occasion or a day in the office, keeping up-to-date with the latest trends is imperative - especially if you wish to stay ahead in the fashion stakes. 

Investing in a number of fail-safe wardrobe essentials is a great way to ensure that your wardrobe works on a daily basis. Smart black trousers, skinny jeans, a block-coloured shift dress, camisoles in various hues and shoes that work for both day and night are just a few of the timeless classics to consider.

Since summer is already here, it is the time to add a splash of colour to your wardrobes. Oranges, purples, fuchsia and coral shades are big this season and can be introduced in the shape of scarves, jewellery, shoes and clutches. Alternatively, if you wish to make a bold statement, choose clothing in brighter hues, tribal and floral prints, and even accessorize, like what I did in my outft.

 

This spring / summer season, maxi dresses are a great option when it comes to adding color to your closet. Chic evening maxi dresses are seen as a spring essential, as they are dressy, but keep you warmer than that of shorts and skirts. Many choose to wear such a style to spring weddings. When worn with heels, they work to elongate the torso and often come with jewelled necklines (that's why I love wering maxi dresses). In my outfit, I added an oversized necklace to make my outfit stand out, yet on cooler weather, adding a bold pashmina to the mix will allow you to cover your shoulders without hiding any of the detailing of the dress.

 

However, if you choose to invest in an evening ensemble that boasts a high element of detail, keeping your accessories to a minimum is a must. Opt for a simple clutch in a complimentary hue to that of your outfit and when it comes to jewellery, stick to either statement earrings or an oversized necklace. Wearing a multitude of rings is high on trend this season so try matching the shade of the jewels to your dress; this will tie the entire look together.
